Pharmaceutical labelling in South Africa is regulated by SAHPRA. Every label must carry the product name, active ingredients, dosage instructions, batch number, expiry date, and storage conditions. The label material needs to stay legible for the full shelf life of the product, even in challenging conditions like humidity or temperature fluctuation.
Materials that meet the standard
White vinyl with permanent adhesive is the industry standard for pharmaceutical labels. It resists moisture, rubbing, and most chemicals. For products that need extra durability, we offer laminated vinyl with a clear overlaminate that protects against scuffing and handling. If your product goes through autoclave sterilization, we have specialty materials rated for that process.
Security and traceability
Tamper evident labels are available for products that need visible evidence of tampering. We can also add variable data printing for batch numbers and expiry dates on each individual label. For products requiring serialisation, we can print unique identifiers and barcodes that integrate with track and trace systems.
